OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is patiently awaiting the day when AI replaces him. He stated that if OpenAI doesn't become the first company to be replaced by artificial intelligence... He would feel ashamed if a company were led by an AI .
In November 2022, OpenAI released its globally popular chatbot. ChatGPT has become one of the world's most influential artificial intelligence companies, and Altman has thus earned the title of "Father of ChatGPT".
“I would be ashamed if OpenAI wasn’t the first major company run by an AI CEO,” Altman said on a podcast Wednesday.
Altman said he often thinks about the question: "What conditions must be met for an AI CEO to run OpenAI much better than me?"
While much work remains to be done before that day arrives, Altman says he's been thinking about how to accelerate the process. He believes that in less than 10 years, AI will be capable of managing a major department within OpenAI .
Altman said that he would have his next job arranged by the time that day came.
“I have a farm, and I stay there occasionally. I really love it there,” Altman said in an interview last month. He also said that before ChatGPT became popular, he spent more time on the farm. He used to “drive a tractor and pick crops.”
“In the short term, artificial intelligence will destroy a lot of jobs. But in the long run, like every other technological revolution, I think we will find entirely new things to do,” he said.
