On December 31, 2025, China UnionPay and Zhuhai Wanda Commercial Management Group Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement on digital consumption space business at Wanda Plaza in Tongzhou, Beijing. With the core vision of "Building an ecosystem through digital integration and promoting consumption through collaboration," the two parties will focus on the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy, integrating their advantages in payment technology and commercial scenario operation to jointly create a benchmark for the digital transformation of physical commerce. This is also an important practice for China UnionPay in implementing the national work plan on facilitating payment services and empowering consumption upgrades with financial technology, injecting strong momentum into the construction of Beijing as an international consumption center city. Relevant leaders from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce also attended the signing ceremony.
Currently, expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption have become the core engines driving high-quality economic development. The State Council, in its "Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of Service Consumption," proposed stimulating the endogenous driving force of service consumption through innovation. The digital transformation of physical businesses is a key path to activating consumption potential and optimizing the consumption ecosystem. As a core hub of the payment industry, China UnionPay has always been committed to serving the real economy, adhering to payment as its core anchor, digital technology as its enabling means, and ecosystem collaboration as its development path, building a core support system for the digital transformation of physical businesses and injecting continuous vitality into the consumer market.
This collaboration with Zhuhai Wanda is a key practice for UnionPay to transform its digital transformation achievements into tangible industrial empowerment, aiming to achieve a dual improvement in consumer experience and business benefits, and creating a replicable and scalable model of "physical commerce + digital ecosystem". This cooperation will utilize Zhuhai Wanda's commercial complexes as the physical carrier, with both parties jointly building a "digital consumption space". A digital service platform will be developed around physical commercial scenarios, relying on real-time merchant operation information from Wanda's commercial complexes, integrating UnionPay's smart payment terminals, digital merchant management tools, and other capabilities. This will promote the deep integration of multi-source data, including commercial operations, terminal status, and transaction networks, in physical store scenarios, upgrading traditional commercial spaces into digital commercial spaces based on real consumption scenarios and supported by convenient payment and intelligent operation, providing a practical model for the digital transformation of physical commerce.
At the same time, both parties will jointly promote UnionPay's integrated smart terminal, which will optimize the interactive experience of "card, code, and Pay" convergence acceptance, while integrating capabilities such as digital content display, precise marketing information push, and real-time perception of business status, accurately matching the core needs of merchants' digital operations, effectively improving the coverage and user experience of payment services, and truly realizing "payment as a service and terminal as a touchpoint", turning the traditional payment process into a growth point for digital operations.
At the signing ceremony, the cooperation project, piloted at Wanda Plaza in Tongzhou, Beijing, was launched simultaneously. UnionPay Beijing Branch, together with ecosystem partners such as Tongzhou Wanda Commercial Management, YeePay, and Yunma Smart, deployed smart converged terminals and launched the "Digital New Consumption, UnionPay Shopping Spree" themed marketing campaign during Wanda Plaza's 11th anniversary celebration. This campaign covered over 100 high-quality merchants in retail, full-service restaurants, and casual dining, allowing users to conveniently enjoy exclusive instant discounts through various payment methods including the UnionPay app, mobile flash payment, and bank cards.
