In recent days, the Social Insurance agencies in several localities have announced the schedule for paying pensions and allowances for April 2026 in accordance with regulations, following the combined payments for February and March for more than 3.5 million beneficiaries.

In Hanoi, representatives from the city's Social Insurance agency stated that pensions and allowances will be transferred to beneficiaries' accounts starting April 2nd. For those receiving cash, the Social Insurance agency will coordinate with the post office to arrange payment after this date.

The percentage of people receiving payments via bank accounts in Hanoi reached 99.55%, indicating that the transition to cashless methods is being accelerated, allowing people to receive money quickly without waiting.

In Ho Chi Minh City, payments via bank account are processed from the first working day of the month. For April 2026, the money will be transferred from April 1st.

For cash payments, the post office organizes payments at designated locations starting from the 10th of each month; then continues payments at post offices from the 11th to the 25th.

Similarly, in Quang Ninh, pension payments via bank accounts started on April 1st; cash payments will be made after this date.

According to Vietnam Social Security, there are currently two payment methods: bank transfer and cash, with specific payment schedules for each locality.

Provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Son La, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Hue, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Ca Mau, and Kien Giang will make payments on the first working day of the month, which is April 1st.

Meanwhile, localities including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Lai Chau, Thai Nguyen, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Lao Cai, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Dong Thap will make payments on the second working day, April 2nd.

According to Vietnam Social Security, during the combined pension and allowance payment period for February and March, the entire system completed payments to approximately 3.55 million people receiving monthly pensions and social insurance benefits, totaling over 44,700 billion VND, ensuring timely and compliant payments.

Of these, approximately 3.13 million people received money via bank accounts on February 2nd and 3rd, totaling over 40.3 trillion VND. The transfers were made simultaneously at the beginning of the month, allowing recipients to manage their spending proactively, especially during the Tet holiday.

In addition, approximately 415,000 people received cash through the postal system from February 2nd to 10th, totaling over 4.4 trillion VND. Payments were made flexibly at designated locations or at home for the elderly, the sick, or those with mobility difficulties.

The Social Security agency also noted some new regulations regarding the authorization to receive pension benefits under the 2024 Social Security Law.

Specifically, the power of attorney is only valid for a maximum of 12 months and must be notarized as required. Power of attorney documents created under the old law can be used until June 30, 2026.

From July 1, 2026, beneficiaries will need to redo the authorization procedure to avoid interruption in receiving pensions and benefits.

In addition, on an annual basis, beneficiaries of social insurance benefits through personal bank accounts are responsible for cooperating with the social insurance agency or a service organization authorized by the social insurance agency to verify their eligibility for social insurance benefits as prescribed.
