According to multiple media reports, OpenAI CEO Altman issued a "red alert" to employees on Monday, stating that the company will focus its efforts on improving its chatbot. ChatGPT will be the company's highest level of alert.

As a result, Altman plans to postpone other company initiatives, such as advertising and other new projects. Previously, sources revealed that OpenAI was preparing for an advertising sales business, considering online shopping-related and other different types of advertising.

An engineer pointed out that after studying the code of the latest Android beta version of ChatGPT, about a dozen lines of code were marked as featured ads. This indicates that OpenAI is preparing to monetize by showing users ads, a choice forced upon it by profit pressure.

Earlier, there were reports that OpenAI was poaching top advertising talent from Google and Meta and posting advertising-related job openings on recruitment websites.

However, Altman's declaration of a state of emergency could alter OpenAI's deployment in the advertising business. In an internal memo, Altman stated that OpenAI is at a critical juncture with ChatGPT, and he demanded that everything within the company give way to ChatGPT.

Gemini is fiercer than a tiger.

The sudden shift in OpenAI's strategy is reportedly related to the rapid development of competitors such as Google, and Altman is increasingly worried that OpenAI will lose its edge in artificial intelligence. Industry leadership.

Altman once stated internally that Gemini 3 could have a negative economic impact on OpenAI in the short term.

The Gemini 3, released last month, has indeed proven its capabilities. The model outperformed GPT-5 in key benchmark tests and gained user recognition in areas such as image generation. Google also announced that Gemini's monthly active users surged from 450 million in July of last year to 650 million in October of this year. While still lower than ChatGPT's 800 million users, the growth rate is remarkably rapid.

The rise of competitors seems to have led Altman to refocus on improving the user experience of ChatGPT. He hopes that the model can be significantly improved in terms of personalization, image generation, speed and stability, thereby defending its industry position.

Altman announced that a new inference model will be launched next week, which scored higher than Google's latest model, Gemini 3, in internal evaluations.
