Just this past weekend, the largest commercial bank in the United States, known as the "King of Wall Street,"... JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon reiterated his commitment to artificial intelligence . (AI) Viewpoint: The overall impact on the economy is subtle and optimistic.

In a recent interview, Dimon acknowledged that companies have been cautious about hiring lately, but he stated that this is unrelated to artificial intelligence . Nevertheless, he also expressed doubt that AI will significantly reduce jobs next year.

He said, " To a large extent, artificial intelligence will do many great things for humanity, like tractors, fertilizers, and vaccines. You know, maybe one day we won't have to work so hard, but life will be wonderful. "

Dimon emphasized that artificial intelligence still needs appropriate regulation to mitigate downside risks, just like other innovations in history.

He reiterated his earlier warning that artificial intelligence will replace jobs, but urged people to focus on skills unique to humans, such as critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and communication. If AI sweeps through the economy so quickly that workers cannot adapt to their new roles in time, Dimon suggested that both the public and private sectors need to play a role.

Dimon explained, "We—governments, our companies, our society—should consider how to do this in phases in a way that doesn't hurt many people."

“We should have done more in terms of assistance a few years ago when a small town suffered because of factory closures. There are many things we can do: provide retraining, resettlement, income assistance, and early retirement, among other things,” he added.

At the same time, Dimon pointed out that artificial intelligence will inevitably create jobs in the short term as new infrastructure requires more buildings and fiber optics.

This is his latest comment on artificial intelligence in recent months. In November, Dimon predicted that artificial intelligence will help developed countries reduce their workweek to three and a half days sometime in the next 20-40 years.

In this regard, Elon Musk, the world's richest man, recently stated that artificial intelligence and robotics... Technological advancements will make work an "option" rather than a "must," and this could happen within the next two decades. He describes this outcome as "universally high incomes," in a world where "productivity is so high and goods and services are so abundant that people don't have to work to meet basic needs."

In addition, Dimon stated in October that governments and businesses must develop plans for the future of artificial intelligence to avoid strong public opposition.

“This will reduce job opportunities. People should stop having an ostrich mentality,” he said. An ostrich mentality refers to a psychological state of escaping reality and a cowardly behavior of avoiding facing problems.
